Frequently Asked Questions

For Employees

Q: What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist?

A psychiatrist is a licensed medical doctor specialized in mental health. They are able to diagnose, prescribe, and treat mental health conditions. A psychologist is specialized in the treatment of
mental health, and often works under the guidance of a psychiatrist.

Q: Will the psychiatrist monitor my treatment after the initial assessment?

Yes! We offer reassessments to guide your treatment and ensure that it remains optimal.

Q: Is my appointment with the psychiatrist kept confidential?

Yes. The appointment as well as the report are strictly confidential. Azura does not release any
personal or medical information without your signed consent.

Q: Where does the report go after my assessment and how do I obtain a copy?

Azura provides a copy of the report to the referring party (ie: insurance company), as well as your
treating physician (with your consent). Should you wish to obtain a copy of the report, we suggest requesting it from your physician's office or from your case manager.

Q: I live in a remote community. How will the doctor be able to see me in a timely manner?

Our psychiatrists complete all of their assessments virtually in order to ensure timely access for underserved communities throughout Canada.

For Case Managers

Q: What sort of information should we expect to receive from the report?

Our psychiatrists complete examinations with a strong focus on functionality. In the report, you can expect to receive (where appropriate), a clear diagnosis, complete treatment recommendations, prognosis and an outline of functional abilities and limitations.

Q: How long does it take to secure an appointment with a psychiatrist?

Book as soon as 24 hours depending on availability. Our service standard is within 5 business days.

Q: How soon after an appointment takes place should we expect to receive the report?

At Azura we understand the importance of a timely service. Our turn-around-times for reports are
3 business days following the assessment.

Q: Is the information we share kept secure?

Yes. All of our platforms are HIPPA and/or PIPEDA compliant and meet SOC-2 requirements.
We use email encryption and only transfer sensitive information through secured channels.
Information security is our utmost priority.
